Electric scooter charger equalization charging method and matters needing attention

For a battery pack consisting of many single cell batteries, such as fixed batteries, a balanced charge should be carried out regularly after a certain date. This is because the charging degree of the active substances in the various parts of the plate is different when charging the same conditions at ordinary times, which results in the unbalanced state of the reactive substances. In addition, considering the differences in charge discharge characteristics between single cells, some single batteries will have insufficient charge. Therefore, after the normal charging is completed, it needs be recharged 1 to 3h with a 20h rate current. This kind of charge is also called overcharge. When batteries are normally used under the same conditions, regular equalization is beneficial for battery maintenance.

There are different stipulations for different users in the interval of equalization charging, and some require three months or half a year. According to the progress of battery design and manufacturing technology, the characteristics between batteries are not very different, so the interval time of equalization charging has an extended trend.

4. Floating charge

The battery used intermittently or the battery that is used only when the alternating current is cut off.  The mode of charging is floating charge. For example, for fixed batteries, each single cell with a voltage of 2.15 to 2.2V is charged with continuous small current. The charger is in parallel with the battery, and the charge current can be mainly supplemented by the loss of its self discharge, that is, about 0.3% to 1% of the 10h rate, while the usual load is loaded by the charger, and the battery is also supplied by the battery for the short time and large load. The charge is automatically charged because of the terminal voltage drop of the battery.

5. Constant voltage current limiting charging

Constant voltage current limiting charging is mainly used to remedy the disadvantage of overcharging current of constant voltage charging (method is like constant voltage charge), and the charging current is automatically regulated by a resistance (current limiting resistor) in series between the charging power and the battery.

When the charging current is too large, the voltage drop of the current limiting resistor is also large, thus reducing the charge voltage; when the charging current is small , the voltage drop of the current limiting resistor is very small, and the voltage loss of the charging equipment is small. In this way, the charging current is automatically adjusted, so that it does not exceed a certain limit. This method is widely applied to the maintenance of the primary charging of storage battery and the supplementary charging of the ordinary battery.
